The Unconstrained Brain

Several of my favorite websites including Jonas Lehrer discussed new studies at Albion College and U of Illinois Chicago into distracted cognition. I find this interesting as recently we have seen more and more research that supports Aldous Huxley’s “reducing valve” metaphor and Karl Friston’s “Free Energy Principle”. While I do not recommend attempting to drive or fly or talk to the opposite sex when intoxicated, it is interested that being unable to filter or filterpret or “pay attention” as closely actually unlocks certain elements of our mind to work more freely.
